As I am transitioning back to being a student again, I have been thinking about little things (worthy of a blog post) that have made a tremendous impact to my engineering job over the past couple of years–GPRename is one of them.

GPRename is a very simple GUI-based bulk renaming utility. It simply does that with no extra features, but it does this task really well. With this tool one can perform case changes, insertions and deletions of characters at specified positions, character replacements, and numerical sequencing. I have used this small software tool hundreds of times and it has saved me many man-hours in labor.

It can be installed easily from Debian/Ubuntu package managers, perhaps not so easily for other Linux flavors. For Windows…. it may be best to look for another program.
